About
Somayeh (Maya) Kabiri is a Pickering-based visual artist working in wire sculpture and large-scale murals. She studied art conservation and restoration at the Tehran Cultural Heritage Higher Education Center, then spent over a decade in Canada working in IT before returning to her artistic practice and founding Spark Mind Studio in 2025. Her hand-bent wire animals — horses, deer, herons — come paired with illustrated story cards in her ongoing series Wild Hearts of Canada: twelve sculptures of the country’s at-risk species. Her murals appear across the GTA, from a Richmond Hill restaurant and a Thornhill dental clinic to the Rosebank Animal Hospital.
